Hi everyone, my brother, Peter “Andy”, is a journalist for the Euroa Gazette. While he was out in the field tracking the Victorian bushfires to keep his community safe, he became the story he never wanted to write.
While he was reporting on the front lines, his own world was being consumed. In a matter of minutes, he lost his vehicle, his professional camera gear, and—most devastatingly—a lifetime of irreplaceable family history.
The Reality of the Aftermath
Pete didn't just lose "stuff." He stood in a "sea of red cinders," watching his livelihood and his neighbors' farms disappear. He is safe, but the adrenaline is wearing off and the trauma is setting in. The mental toll of a disaster like this—the "shatter" of one's life—is a weight no one should carry alone.
We are raising funds to help him:
• Replace the tools of his trade;
• Get back on the road;
• Support his recovery: Ensuring he has the space and resources to process the trauma that follows such a harrowing ordeal.
My brother spent the fire warning everyone else. Now, I’m asking you to help him. Let’s help this storyteller find a way to start his next chapter.
Please donate if you can, and share his story if you can’t.
With gratitude,
Phil
