Bush kid with a big dream!

Hi my name is B.J. and im blessed to be the mother of 2 amazing kids. I'm crowd funding for my 12 year old daughter Violet who recently earned a position on the NSW PSSA Athletics Team for 2025. She would compete in Canberra at the Australian Institute of Sport Track and Field Centre in high jump and a relay.
Violet has been high jumping since she was 10. Since then she has competed at state athletics for PSSA 3 times and state level twice for Little Athletics. Each competition she has trained hard, showed beautiful sportsmanship, composure, drive, patience and an absolute passion for high jump. She is naturally gifted but meets that talent with commitment to training, learning about her sport and doing whatever it takes to reach her goals. We often drive over 600km each way to competitions and spend thousands on accomodation, petrol, uniforms and competition levy fees. Her brother and myself are her biggest supporters, always cheering her on and watching with excitement and anticipation from the sidelines. The most recent competition was state PSSA athletics at Sydney Olympic Park. Violet found herself in a jump off to decide who would get the bronze medal and make the NSW team to represent and compete at Nationals. Violet has reflected since saying 'i knew how much i wanted it so I stayed focused and calm'. She won the jump off with a PB jump of 1.51m- nearly her own height!
I'll never forget watching her receive her bronze medal. I was overwhelmed with pride but had tears in my eyes of gratitude that my girl has not only found what she loves to do but does it with a smile no matter what obstacles or challenges she faces. She had absolutely earned this beautiful moment and accolade. She had achieved her dream of a podium finish and made it to Nationals!

I now have a few short weeks to raise the funds it will require for her to compete at this incredible event. I'm a single, disabled mother and we live 888km from Canberra! But it doesn't matter what financial or physical obstacles are in our way- i will make this happen for her because she truly deserves it. Kids from the bush don't have the same access to training and facilities that city kids do. They train on uneven grass in crazy weather, travel long hours, miss out on days at school and have work to catch up on, skip social events with friends and community due to training and competitions. As a mother- the time, effort and dedication involved is immeasurable but totally worth it to see your child excel and be so full of joy.

Yes she would love to be an Olympian and professional athlete 1 day. but im teaching her to be mindful and present and to enjoy each of these steps along the way. And Nationals would be a massive, joyous, exciting step along her athletics journey.
Violet is naturally talented, has absolute drive and dedication for her sport, shows honourable sportsmanship and loves what she does.

'its been my dream to go to nationals. I've been wanting to go ever since I discovered athletics. High jumping makes me feel free and happy. I imagine walking in the opening ceremony with the NSW team and I feel so proud. My biggest goal would be to go to the Olympics 1 day. I know if I work hard enough and keep taking each opportunity I could make my dreams come true'

The funds raised will be used for the 5 nights accommodation, petrol for transport, uniforms and all associated costs with competing. I have guestimated we will need $1600.
