Our community church is located in McGrath, Alaska just under 300 miles northeast of Anchorage, off the road system. It's hard to imagine a better community than ours, and every summer we look forward to lots of our community youth getting together for Bible camps. This year we want to do something different.
We want to build a Ninja Warrior obstacle course that will serve as our main event at summer bible camps. However, this course is going to be different. We not only want this to be a fun resource for our community but also for other communities in the interior of Alaska.
What we are looking at building is an aluminum structure measuring 40'x10'x10', containing 14 of the most iconic ninja warrior obstacles, that is totally disassemblable and can be transported by air to practically any village in the interior of Alaska.
There are so many young people who root for their local ninja warrior star and test their abilities on fun, homemade obstacles, but to be able to actually practice on and attempt a large-scale, quality facility like this is unthought-of in the bush. We, with your help, will change this.
The funds we are trying to raise will go towards two things primarily. The lion's share of the money will be used for purchasing and shipping the building materials to McGrath from Anchorage. We are working with companies in Alaska, like Spectrum Enterprises, that are excited about the project and are helping us select the right materials and with significant price reductions. About 25% of this money is being allocated to transportation costs. We would like to be able to take this structure, together with the Bible camp built around it, to other villages. This money would make that possible.
To be able to host these summer camps using the ninja course we would like to have the funds as soon as possible, as acquiring and shipping materials to the interior is a lengthy task and the more time we have to dedicate to fabrication the better.
We are not attempting a project of this magnitude alone. We are working with an adventure camp in Wisconsin. They are helping us think through safety considerations and staff training. And we have been in contact with Missionary Aviation Repair Center (MARC) in Soldotna, Alaska. They have helped us with weights and measurements ensuring we will be able to fly this course from village to village.
If any of this excites you then your prayers and support are greatly appreciated, and we promise to use your support with the utmost responsibility and integrity.
