Hi! My name is Byron Cap. I'm raising funds to transport indigenous Guatemalan students to free, accredited English classes at Academia Chaptops in Tactic, Guatemala, where I am Director.
Our Challenge: Tuition is Covered, But the Bus Ride is Not
Imagine having the ambition to learn, a scholarship to study, and a path to a well-paid job—but being held back simply because you cannot afford the bus ride to the classroom.
For 30 dedicated students from rural villages in Guatemala, this is their current reality.
The Opportunity: Thanks to an alliance between Guate Conecta and CHAPTOPS, in February thirty students will start an intensive English course completely free of charge. It's a rigorous five-month, five-day-a-week program accredited by the Ministry of Education.
Graduates will receive an official certificate recorded at the Ministry's offices in Guatemala City.
Why This Matters: In Guatemala, English is more than just a language; English is a key that unlocks many doors in the job market. Having this official certification on their resume radically increases opportunities in the job market, qualifying graduates for high-paying jobs in tourism, customer service, and international trade. It is a tangible step out of poverty for students and their families.
The Barrier: While the course is funded, the logistics are not. Our students travel from surrounding villages to attend class. While insignificant by American standards, for many, the daily cost of bus fare from the villages is prohibitive when compounded over 5 days a week for 5 months.
How You Can Help: We are raising $2,000 to cover transportation costs for all 30 students for the entire 5-month duration of the course.
Here is the breakdown of your impact:
• Your $67 will cover the bus fare for one student for the entire 5-month course.
• $13 will cover one student for a full month.
• $3 will cover a student for a week.
Every dollar raised goes directly to ensuring these students can physically get to their seats to learn.
Please help us remove this final barrier so their hard work can pay off.
Thank you for helping us drive education forward in Guatemala!
