"Won't you help me fund my cure?"

I believe I am on the right path but I could use your help financially. You see, I am trying to cure stage 4 Lung cancer.  I learned about he Burzynski Clinic many years ago before I was even diagnosed with cancer but still I went with conventional treatments at a well known institution as they are well known as the “best in the country”, they were “aiming for a cure”, and they took my insurance. 

5 years later, after several rounds of Chemotherapy, Surgery and several rounds of radiation, they have few options left for me, and are no longer “aiming for a cure”. Now the language has changed to “you shouldn’t be thinking in terms of decades”.  Their plan is to "keep an eye on it and wait for it to mutate, become aggressive and then blast it with more chemo and radiation"… but still I will not win the battle… according to them.

I think this plan sucks. I say why not kill it while it’s sleeping? Which lead my thoughts back to the Burzynski Clinic. So I have made this into a road trip adventure. I drove to Iowa to pick up a vintage rebuilt camper and then down to Houston for treatment. When I left I did not even know if I'd be eligible for the life saving treatment I was going for but I just hit the road anyway, fingers and toes crossed. 

Because Burzynski’s treatments are unconventional, they are not covered by insurance. I had my initial consult with Dr. Burzynski and guess what, they agree. The time to kill it is now... and it turns out I am a good candidate for the treatment I came for. I have been getting IV Antineplastons for over a week now and still waiting for Sloan to send the Burzynski Clinic a tissue sample from the tumor to determine if any other gene targeted therapies would be useful. Once we get that debacle settled up I can head home and continue the treatments on my own from home. 

While I am excited about the prospect of being cured, the costs for this treatment are quite high for me. To get started I had to lay out 27K which covers initial consult, genetic testing and my first month of treatment. The treatments will then continue at 17K per month plus any gene meds they may add once the tissue testing is done. This will continue until I am cured but Dr. Burzynski thinks it may be as quick as three months for me. And then I don’t actually need the treatments anymore, so that would be awesome! And this is quite possible as this has been the case for many who have come before me.

There is a lot of negative press. If you Google Dr Burzynski you will find it. But it's not true. He is doing great work and he is doing it despite the best efforts of the FDA to shut him down. In all these years they have not been able to do so. So he keeps curing the people who have the courage and of course the funding to come to him. The funding is a fraction of what the Cancer Society gets to research finding a cure for cancer and he must do it on his own so really the costs are quite minimal for what he is doing. IMHO The man is a saint to relentlessly not give up despite the obstacles that have been thrown in his way and I am so very thankful for the work he is doing and continues to do.

If you can help me with these costs I would greatly appreciate it. I know many wish they could and simply can not. Please know that I know you are behind me in this regardless of your ability to support me financially or not. I appreciate each and every one of you.

A few stories I have collected along the way: 

I met a woman at the clinic the other day who had metastatic Breast cancer. She had been told to go home and get her affairs in order. She wold not live. X-rays revealed the cancer had spread to her bones and there were dark spots, lesions, all along her spine and pelvis. 

I met her while I was in the treatment room at Burzynskis receiving training to be able to continue my treatments at home. She was all smiles and told me her story about the cancer and how it spread and how the Drs had given her no hope before she came to Burzynski. Now she has been on Antineoplastons for a year and ALL of her lesions are gone except for one small one and so they will continue until that one is erased as well.

Another woman I spoke with on the phone whom I had contacted at “setting them free”, regarding fundraising had also been cured of “incurable cancer” by Dr. Burzynski. Turns out they don’t actually connect people with funds. Instead, they offer a way for people who donate to you to do it as a tax write off but, I believe what I was really supposed to hear was her story and how now 15 years later after being told she was going to die of cancer, she is helping to raise her grand kids, who were screaming in the background as we spoke.
