At a time when most Americans were still celebrating the anniversary of our nation’s independence, one military family received a call that many of us couldn’t imagine.
In the early morning hours on Friday, July 5, 2019, Brandon Jay Benavides, the 20-year-old son of a retired U.S. Army Green Beret from the 7th Special Forces Group, was killed during a hit and run accident on the Clyde B. Wells Bridge near Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.
According to Florida Highway Patrol officials the driver who hit Brandon did not stop.
While Brandon’s family and friends mourn the loss of a life filled with promise, there will undoubtedly be challenging days ahead.
With trust in law enforcement authorities to work diligently to locate the driver and bring them to justice, the Benavides family must focus on the difficult task of burying their youngest child.
This is a proud military family, the oldest son had just enlisted in the Army and stationed at Fort Polk, LA.
Please feel to show your support Thursday, July 11, 5pm at the Live Oak Baptist Church, 4565 Live Oak Church Rd, Crestview, FL 32539.
Burial will be at the Fort Bliss Cemetery in Texas the following week.
Your donations will help this family pay for some of Brandon’s funeral costs and any amount of contribution will be greatly appreciated.
