Dear Friends and Family,
As many of you are aware, our family members-Marc & Deborah Burroughs have had two children diagnosed with brain cancer in 2011. Our sweet Daniel, and Christina were diagnosed only two months apart. With great pain we lost Christina in 2013. Daniel is 31 years old and continues to fight. For the past eight years he has continued to undergo treatment, and we are very thankful he is still with us.
Marc and Deborah recently let us know that Daniel needs someone home with him at all times, since the rapid growth of his tumor has impaired his vision, and has caused unpredictable seizures. Fortunately Marc continues to work, but Deborah can not work away from home while devoting herself to caring for Daniel. As a mother myself, I'm sure it's the only place she'd want to be. It's the only place I'm sure we'd all want to be if we were in this situation. This why we are reaching out to all of you.
Marc & Deborah let us know the disheartening news that they will have to put their house on the market. If you know them, you know their love for the mountains and especially Idyllwild. Daniel, Marc and Deborah have enjoyed living simply, being close to nature, taking hikes with friends, family and their little animal pack. It's the small things that they have learned to be grateful for. Our desire for them is really beyond a dollar amount, it's more about giving them peace of mind that they don't have to sell there house and move. Moving would be very disruptive for all of them, especially for Daniel, who more than ever needs a comfortable environment at home that he feels safe, loved, and well cared for.
The tangible part of giving them peace of mind would be to raise enough money to cover a good portion of their living expenses over the next year. We'd like to start with the goal of $25,000 to help with the months ahead. I know this would be such a huge gift to them. Would you please pray and consider what you may be able to give? We will also keep you up to date with how they are doing, and other ways that you may be able to help.
We also want to thank so many of you for being such sweet friends to them, and our entire family through the years. We’re so thankful God has placed such good people around us.
