Help Build Alice's Kaleidoscopic Pyramid for Burning Man
Donation protected
Im Alice, and I am building an art installation for playa at Burning Man this summer. "Ascension" is an interactive infinity mirror installation pyramid in shape, designed to inspire interactivity. It features a mirrored pyramid as a receiver and a kaleidoscope as a projector. Live imagery from a custom-made kaleidoscope is projected, creating a visual spectacle inside the pyramid.
"Ascension" is a pyramid composed of five custom-created two-way mirrors, standing 80 inches tall with a base measuring 55 by 55 inches, accompanied by a custom-built kaleidoscope measuring 36x24 inches. The infinity mirror pyramid will sit on a base made of wood, metal, and fabric, which has linear actuators allowing 4 extra inches in height. An LED panel will sit within the base, underneath the bottom directional mirror, projecting imagery from the kaleidoscope into the mirrored structure, causing the imagery to be fractalized into infinity as it bounces off each face of the pyramid. The kaleidoscope will be made of metal, glass, mirror, and LED, which will be connected to a live feed HD camera projecting the imagery into the pyramid via the LED panels. Imagine interacting with a kaleidoscope, but instead of looking through a small eyepiece, the eyepiece is a 7-foot-tall pyramid.
Participants interact via a kaleidoscope, manipulating imagery by spinning color spectrum pieces, which creates geometric patterns in the pyramid-shaped receiver visible from afar. Its mission is to foster connection and wonder through interactive art and technology, blending sacred geometry and colorful imagery. The aim is to inspire awe and collaboration, encouraging participants to explore geometry and push the boundaries of perception and creativity.
