Burnham Medical and Travel Expenses

I've started this gofundme for my dad, Virgil and his wife Miki. Our family is never one to ask for help, so this is difficult. On February 8, 2023, my dad traveled from his home on Prince of Whales Island in Alaska to Anchorage and had spinal surgery. He had two fusions, one of his cervical spine and one of the thoracic spine. Back home, around February 27th they noticed the surgical site was very red and inflamed, which is very scary for this type of surgery. Having distant contact with his surgeon, my dad was put on antibiotics for possible infection. After a little over a week, the incision was looking worse. Concern for a deeper spine infection, skin infection or more serious things arose. He was told on March 9th they needed to pack up and head to Anchorage for further testing and possible treatment. After over 36 hours in the ER in Anchorage, MRI, ultrasound, blood work, drainage and a meeting with his surgeon, they still have no answers.

The next step is to get my dad seen by a dermatologist STAT. They have to stay in Anchorage, as there is no specialists or hospitals back home. They could be in Anchorage through next weekend of March 19th. This is their 3rd trip to Anchorage. The first 2 were planned for financially. This one was NOT. My dad hasn't been back to work in a month. They are having to pay for a place to stay while in Anchorage, a rental car and all the necessities like food. I'm hoping this gofundme will reach people willing help a guy out. Travel is very expensive in AK as they have to fly everywhere they go from home and back.
