Greg and Katie Burnham's son Ethan went into the hospital several weeks ago with some extreme pain, only to discover that his organs were in the process of shutting down. An example of this is that normal pancreatic numbers are in the 70's, Ethan's were in the 24,000's. Even after two full weeks in the hospital, much of it in the ICU, the medical team is still trying to better understand what is going on. He is currently relying upon a breathing machine and has several more surgeries before they think things will be on the mend. Ethan's wonderful wife, in-laws, siblings and parents are all hopeful about his recovery, but there is certainly an emotional and financial drain occurring.

There is too much unknown to determine how long Ethan will remain in the hospital and what his recovery process will look like afterward. But we know it is going to be expensive.
