Bruner Family Emergency Surgery Recovery Support

Hi, my name is Kali and I'm organizing a support system fund for the Bruner Family as they navigate this unknown, scary, and stressful time.

During the week of March 27th Laura, Rusty, Evie, and Indie all dealt with various forms of a stomach/flu bug. Rusty felt terrible on March 30 and 31st and then started to feel a little bit better over the weekend. By Monday, April 3rd he went to urgent care because of the pain and unfortunately, they sent him home and said it would pass. The next day, Rusty went back to urgent care and advocated for additional tests to be ran. They determined that indeed something was terribly wrong with him and soon after he went into emergency surgery for a ruptured appendix. The doctors believe it likely burst FIVE days earlier, which is why he felt temporary relief for a few days.

Thankfully Rusty got through the surgery and is currently still in the hospital recovering. It's unclear at the time of this being posted how long he'll have to be in the hospital and what his recovery is going to entail. Laura has been juggling solo parenting, trying to work, and showing up as the best momma she can for Evie and Indie. There's a long journey ahead.

Laura is a natural "connector" and has friends across the country that are probably wondering how/what they can do to help. I know. I'm one of those people! I told Laura I was going to venmo her money for takeout dinner and then realized that there are probably people like you in other parts of the country that want to help out too.
