Burned In Memory

Donation protected
I would like to introduce myself  before I go into details about my idea. My name is Corey Miller and I am a medically retired Army EOD Technician. I served 16 years in the Army, 10 of which was serving as EOD(Explosive Ordnance Disposal), I have five deployments between Iraq, Afghanistan and yes they counted my two trips to Kuwait. I was medically retired August of this year. Since leaving the military it has been nothing but pure hell. I am struggling with PTSD, depression, constant suicide attempts , and most detrimental my loss of purpose. While I served I lived for the job and the knowledge of knowing I was helping others and making a difference. Anyone who knew me knew I was the “Hooah” guy. I always jumped at chances to help. But now all that has been lost.

Burned in Memory is a concept I came up with trying to find a purpose since being retired from the Army. I know I can’t save lives anymore but I can live everyday honoring those who are serving and most importantly those who paid the greatest price. I am going to make 136 wooden burned flags and give them to the families of the fallen. The process will take a little less than 24 months to achieve. The process will cost approximately $26.50 in materials per flag with an estimate of $30 shipping for a total of $56.50 per flag. The grand total to complete the project will be 7,627.50. I will be making and selling extra flags to help offset the cost. I am only providing the flags to the families of the fallen for free. If the family can’t be contacted all flags will be given to the Unit they were assigned to at death, or the EOD Warrior foundation for the annual auction. In addition to donating 136 burned wood flags I will be donating one large one to this years auction. I will include any special messages each donation contributor wants to add-on to the flag. The flag in the picture is of my personal flag as an example. Each flag will be about 20”x38” with whichever badge they held and on the lower part their Name, Rank and dates of service and any special additions each family would like to add. If you can not give even providing contact information for the fallen family’s is greatly appreciated. All remaining profits will be donated to the EOD Warrior Foundation at the completion of the project.
