On June 13th, my life changed in an instant. A bottle of isopropyl alcohol I was holding came into contact with a flame and exploded, covering me in fire. I suffered severe burns — 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and nearly 4th degree — over much of my body.

During the first 21 days of my hospital stay, I underwent nine surgeries to remove damaged tissue and begin the healing process. Each procedure was painful and exhausting, both physically and emotionally, but necessary to save my life. It was one of the most difficult periods I've ever experienced.

This tragic accident happened just as we were preparing to enjoy summer vacation with our kids, a time we were all looking forward to. Unfortunately, those plans were immediately replaced with emergency surgeries, pain management, and an extended stay in the ICU at Kendall Hospital, where I spent a full month fighting to recover.

I’m now back home with my husband and our two children, trying to heal — physically, emotionally, and financially. I’m unable to work for the time being, and the costs of my medical care, treatments, and the supplies I need to continue recovering are overwhelming.

El 13 de junio, mi vida cambió en un instante. Una botella de alcohol isopropílico que tenía en mis manos entró en contacto con una llama y explotó, provocando quemaduras graves en gran parte de mi cuerpo. Sufrí quemaduras de primer, segundo, tercer y casi cuarto grado.

Durante los primeros 21 días de hospitalización, me sometí a nueve cirugías para retirar el tejido dañado y comenzar el proceso de sanación. Cada operación fue dolorosa y agotadora, tanto física como emocionalmente, pero fueron necesarias para salvar mi vida. Fue uno de los momentos más duros que he vivido.

Todo ocurrió justo cuando nos preparábamos para disfrutar las vacaciones de verano con nuestros hijos, un momento que esperábamos con mucha ilusión. En lugar de eso, tuvimos que cancelar los planes y enfrentarnos a cirugías de emergencia, tratamientos dolorosos y un mes completo internada en la UCI del hospital Kendall.

Hoy estoy de regreso en casa, acompañada de mi esposo y nuestros dos hijos, intentando recuperarme poco a poco — tanto física como emocional y financieramente. Por ahora no puedo trabajar, y los gastos médicos, junto con todo lo necesario para continuar mi recuperación, son muy altos.
