BURN OUT
What is Fire?
About the Team
Hi! We are the production team for Burn Out, a student short film from some of Towson University's dedicated film students. We are so excited to be working on our senior thesis project; one that we can be proud of.
The Story
Burn Out is a drama about Destiny, a teenage recluse who, after a traumatic experience as a child, refuses to leave her house. In that time, she has been unable to connect with her friends and her dad. Due to a promotion, Destiny's father must relocate for work and Destiny must face the fires of her past. Can she conquer it?
Why it Matters
This film hits some themes that anyone could relate to; guilt, fear, rejection. This film also talks about mental health in teens, specifically post-traumatic stress disorder, which isn't often talked about. Mental health has become a big part of the conversation with the recent deaths of some very talented creatives; Kate Spade, Anthony Bourdain, Mac Miller. By making this film, we hope to bring comfort to their loved ones and bring awareness to post-traumatic stress disorder.
What We Need
You can be the flame! As our senior thesis project, we want to give this everything we've got, but we can't do it alone. With your contributions, we'll be able to make this film the best that it can be. Here are some things that your contributions will go towards:
- Special Effects: We don't want law suits for arson.
- Locations: Air BnB is the new film frontier!
- Gear, Tech, and Safety: Hard drives, batteries, light fixtures, First Aid kits
- Distribution Costs: Film festival submissions, DVD conversion
- FOOD: Ever try to make a film with a hungry crew?
What You Get
We wouldn't dare ask for money without giving you something in return. In exchange for your generosity, we have some rewards for you:
$5: Social Media Shoutout
$15: Electronic Signed Poster
$25: Name in the Credits
$75: Copy of the Film
$150: One of the Paintings from the film (Limited amount, first come first serve, they’re going fast!)
What Else You Can Do
Most importantly, tell your friends, your families, even your enemies (they love movies too). For updates on production progress, like our Facebook page and follow us on Instagram!
We also have a Tee Spring campaign where we will be selling Burn Out merchandise; mugs, posters, and t-shirts that you could wear to the screening December 14th at Towson University.
