One of the most kind and gentle men I know, my Uncle Jim Bass Sr. suddenly passed away in his home on Tuesday, March 22, 2022.
He knew how to give love more than he knew how to receive it. He helped anyone in need in any way he knew how. He had a huge and humble heart that this world was lucky to witness.
Jim had just moved his grandson into his home with the idea of the two of them supporting each other through physical/mental illness and the grief of losing my Aunt Katy Bass who they both adored. My Aunt passed on November 15, 2019 and my uncle was never the same. He missed his wife. Understandable. They got each other in ways the world could never understand. They married in 1974. We all mourned her, Jim was lost without her. He spent more time with his three adult children that he and Katy had together, Tracee, JJ and Hollie, as well as their in-laws (Maria, Maritsa and Tad) and grandkids (Ajay, Marcus, James, Salena and Melissa).
Jim then lost a dear friend in his arms after working together at Franco American Bakery. Jim spent over 45 years of his life, not just working at the bakery, but passionately working there. He struggled to leave his work after losing Katy, but he knew he needed to focus on his health and his family.
Jim always gave so much love to everyone around him. He was loved and priceless to those who knew him. He lived a simple and calm life. He sacrificed so much to care for Katy for many years as she searched for answers to her illnesses. Most of their income was sacrificed. Time was sacrificed. Socializing was sacrificed. Jim never once saw it that way though. He saw it as “for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness or in health, to love and to cherish till death do us part”.
Through the years, they were unable to save. Now their family is hoping to bury their dad honorably. They are selling some items from his home (a rented apartment) as well as his cars which both need work. A man who gave so much of himself, who would never ask from others. I am asking on his behalf. Please donate any amount to help lay my Uncle Jim to rest in a peaceful place where his kids and grandkids can still spend time with him.
Thank you.
