This morning my mother lost the love of her life. I misread the VA website that it must be a service related disability that has caused the death to apply for burial benefits. Been a rough morning. So thankful some readers corrected me and I spent longer reading it again. Yes, even with COVID we can apply for the $300 since he was not in a VA hospital. He has long struggled with multiple illnesses, including cancer that had made it impossible to be covered by any new insurance once they lost his original policy. Due to him being bedridden and requiring 24 hour care she has been unemployed and taking care of him with help from my brother. Seeing the struggle they’ve gone through the past few years I’m always surprised that he has lasted this long for her. Anything will help to give him a modest burial and a starting point to get back on her feet.
