Dear Family and Friends,
I come to you today with not only a heavy heart, but a broken heart. Our family has suffered a great loss. On Saturday, August 8th, our beloved Omar Rai Pope was called Home. While traveling to Las Vegas with Family and friends, the vehicle was struck by a 53-foot semi-truck which immediately caused a fire which caused the minivan being engulfed in flames immediately. Sadly, there were no acts of human kindness from onlookers and/or the driver of the semi to assist in getting people out of the burning vehicle. Omar was able to escape out of the burning vehicle from only two good Samaritans that had stopped. While waiting on the side of the highway for help for 2 plus hours, Omar had several seizures. Upon EMT arrival, they than decided he was in critical condition. They had to call for an airlift which took an additional hour unfortunately, he lost his life during the wait for the airlift. As you can probable imagine, the family is still trying to process this very unfortunate and unforeseen loss of this beautiful soul while also trying to coordinate and arrange a proper Home going service for Omar.
Omar was a 13-year-old young man who took on the role of the family protector and would let you know it. He was loved by some many people, not only his family but anyone he met. He was looking forward to the upcoming school year at Everette Middle School and reconnecting with his many friends. Omar loves were family, food and football. All these things kept a huge smile on his beautiful face. Omar future career goals was becoming an NFL Football player and being a positive example for his 2 sisters, 2 brothers and unborn sibling. His future plans for himself also included him opening his own business that would assist foster children through providing youth guidance, instruction, and support in taking steps toward becoming contributing members of the community.
Our family truly lost a beautiful soul. We are in disbelief, sorrow and a whole lot of pain while we humbly come to you asking for your support to help us lay our King, Omar Rai Pope to rest. We humbly need your support at this trying time.
