Hey everyone, my name is Shaun, and I'm sharing this story on behalf of my little brother Tyler.

 

 

In the early hours of the first weekend of July, Tyler's shop was broken into and pretty much every single thing was stolen. They picked the locks, broke into lockers and hauled out every welder, grinder, tools, and even the work gloves. All total, the stolen tools are worth about AUD 14,000!

 

Since moving to Australia, Tyler has worked hard to build his own business. First, he worked in the North Territories, riding horses and herding cattle, fencing and sweating bullets in the desert. Then he worked for Queensland Electrical Solutions, using the trade he learned in Canada to work hard and build a reputation as a reliable person. QES sponsored him to stay in the country, attend school, and eventually develop his own business. Tyler is no stranger to long hours and challenging work. He's worked in oilfields and gravel pits, confined spaces and wide-open spaces far from civilization. His work ethic is something anyone should be impressed by.

 

 

For the past couple of years Tyler has been building his business, employing and subcontracting to other workers and businesses in the community, making Australia and Toowoomba a real home and community with his wife Gabi. That's why this tragedy came as such a shock. Talking with Tyler about the missing items, seeing the notes and math he's done as he tallies up the loss to his business, and knowing the hard work he's put in breaks my heart.
