Bunny Needs Your Help for Heartworm Treatment
Donation protected
Today we took all three of our dogs to the vet for routine check ups and were blindsided when the vet came in to tell us one of our dogs, Bunny, tested positive for heartworms.
We adopted bunny a little over a year ago and immediately took her for a check up and heartworm prevention which she had tested negative at that point.
Heartworm is a serious disease caused by parasitic worms spread through mosquito bites. It takes about six months from the time of infection for the worms to be detectable, so the test we did when we first got her came back negative. It is likely Bunny was infected before she came to us. Since she hasn’t shown any symptoms, it went unnoticed until now.
The treatment process will be long and intense, lasting at least 120 days. It involves several rounds of medication, injections, and overnight hospital stays. The cost is expected to be $1611.03 and complications could lead to additional medical bills.
We have only had Bunny for a little over a year and she already brought so much joy into our lives. She’s the sweetest, most loving girl and doesn’t deserve what’s ahead. We’re ready to do whatever it takes to get her through this, but we’re also asking for help. Whether it’s $1 or simply sharing this with others, any support means the world to us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting Bunny. We are so grateful for any help in giving her the healthy, happy life she deserves.
