Hunny and Bunny don't know about this, but they have been there for so many of us that I wanted to see what we, as a community, can do for them. 

Joe unexpectedly lost his job and is temporarily disqualified from collecting unemployment benefits.

Of course money would help, but I'm sure childcare, housecleaning, yard work, meals cooked, physical medical (ahem--yes, this is code) help if you've stockpiled it--(you can text me at [phone redacted] for details on this; they're without insurance and Cobra would cost them $2500 a month).

So, community, I am at my most overwhelmed limit. After quitting my job in July so that I could take better care of my kids and my home, my husband unexpectedly lost his job and with it, our health insurance. Joe has already run out of his medication and Lyra and I have just a few weeks of ours left. The process of applying for Medical is long, difficult, confusing, disheartening, and frustrating.

I find myself slipping into the worst depression I’ve been in since I started taking my meds. I’m constantly tired. I can’t seem to make myself do anything but the most basic of functions. Haven’t been in the gym. House is a mess. Yard is a mess.

Because Joe has a very specific skill set it’s been very hard finding a quality job for him. He fixes X-ray and mammogram equipment. He’d like to get into the field of medical robotics. He likes to fix things. He needs full time hours and benefits not a contractor type position.

We had some funds saved but they’re rapidly dwindling. Joe doesn’t qualify for EDD. But we can’t get medical benefits unless he proves he has applied for EDD.

I feel so stuck. So hopeless. We never thought he’d be without a job this long.

I don’t know that I need anything here but some support. Definitely not looking for advice. Job leads are great. Or help getting medicine. Last time I asked I got put in Facebook jail for three days. So I’m afraid to ask.

We have support. We’re not going to starve. But I may have to quit my meds cold turkey. Or Lyra might have to. This is what I’m most worried about.

Anyway. That’s where I’m at.
