Bungee Space Needs Your Help!!!

Hi!

My name is Sixuan Tong, and many of you might have known me as Fiona. I started working at Bungee Space since its opening last year, an artbook store/art space/coffee shop with wearable design (as in clothing and accessories) selections for sale. The whole business is self-funded and run by a small team of Asian women. I can never say enough about how much we each put into Bungee Space, and I truly appreciate and embrace its cultural value as a bookstore and its role in providing a open art environment / expanding art's social and political relevance to the local communities.

While we are grateful and passionate about celebrating Bungee Space’s one-year anniversary, a couple of unforeseeable blows hit. First is that the new books and our own merch got held for inspection by the customs. There is no clear reason given nor any form of follow-up (let’s not mention if there could be any form of compensation at all), and we do not know whether we will ever receive them. Secondly, we are losing merchandise of thousands of value in the store to increasing shoplifting. In response, we are facing the only choice of spending money getting more security cameras. It is just so frustrating to have to do so. It requires extra time and effort to install them, and checking all the footage is so wearing when we have numerous things to take care of simultaneously. Besides, we have already invested money in fixing the AC because we simply cannot afford to install a new one.

With this economy, I worry about the future of Bungee Space. I wish I had better ways to keep it running and thriving, but I feel hands-tied and frustrated in front of such situations. This is why I’m here asking for help from a personal perspective. All donation goes to covering the essential expenses for Bungee Space.
