Bumble Bee Free Library (BBFL) was launched in 2013 in Nonthaburi, Thailand to address a need for quality reading materials for local residents. Library services in Thailand are very limited and most facilities charge membership fees making them inaccessible for many families. BBFL's free membership has made the library a gathering place to read, learn and participate in fun activities for neighbors. The library is truly a place that we are proud to have available to the community.
BBFL currently has more than 14,000 books in multiple languages. English books make up the largest part of our collection, followed by Thai. In our International Corner upstairs, we offer books in Chinese, French, Japanese, Spanish, Khmer, Dutch, Korean and 8 other languages.
At the local homeless shelter, our library provides a "BBFL Reading Corner" that provides a daily Thai newspaper plus more than 700 books in Thai and Khmer to serve nearly 500 homeless.
BBFL is possible thanks to a large group of neighbor volunteers who assist our one librarian. Not counting librarian salary, our other operating expenses total USD$1,100/ month. We rely on personal and group donations to cover rent, electricity, supplies and book purchases.
Your donation helps us provide FREE access to books for all. We also offer fun and educational activities that bring neighbors together.
Bumble Bee Free Library exists thanks to the generous support of all our donors. Thank you so much, everyone!
