Japanese Martial Arts - Need floor mats due to roof collapse

Hi all,

As you may or may not know, the facility where we had a home teaching Japanese Bujinkan Martial Arts, aka Ninjutsu, Tralee Sports Complex, suffered a massive catastrophy in early January - a roof collapse due to heavy snow. Thankfully nobody was injured! Once the site was partially opened recently for swimming I discovered that our floor mats were destroyed as they were stored on the inner balcony which caught a lot of the impact.

We have been able to relocate our twice weekly 2-hour classes to Cumann Iosaef Community Centre, Tralee and have managed with a handful of jigsaw mats but these are not really suitable for safely practicing Japanese Martilal arts for young adults and adults alike. We do a lot of impact training - breakfalls, takedowns, tumbling, grappling, groundwork and throws and so need proper Tatami mats which offer suitable shock absorbance for the body. Jigsaw mats are really only designed to protect the floor.

To that end we have sourced a supplier of Tatami in Ireland and wish to cover an area requiring 18 x Judo Mat 2m x 1m x 40mm Green from https://jigsawmats4martialarts.ie/

This amounts to €3.163,86 and so we would like to raise €3,200 with this fund , and include cleaning products in the excess amount.

Further to the club owning the mats I would make them available to Cumann Iosaef Community Centre where they would be housed for any other clubs who wish to use them on the basis of reasonable due care.
