Hello,

My name is David Wolfring, the creator of Directions4Men.  For 35 years, I have been involved in drug and alcohol recovery and spiritual growth work.  My best friend and I started our recovery journey together, and for the past 30 years, we have been using a piece of property in the Mojave Desert that was gifted to us by his loving parents for the purpose of staying clean and sober.  The property is nicknamed "Grannies." Over the years, a great deal of work has been put in to build a spiritual retreat at Grannies where we can do recovery work through meditation, breathwork, and sweat lodge, among other processes.  We are now in need of creating spaces for the people that come to our weekend retreats so that they have a place to sleep in clean, quiet areas. For many years, men and women slept in cots outside or in the two-bedroom house wherever they could find space.

I have created this page to seek funding for the building of 8 x 12  huts for sleeping quarters.  To start, our goal is to build a minimum of 3 huts which will be built with donated time and energy by the men and women who come to the retreats.  I have calculated that the cost of materials for each unit will be $4,000.  All money will be accounted for in the building process, and I will post progress photos of each unit at Directions4Men.com. If someone is inclined to pledge for a unit in total, they will have it named after them.  

Hundreds of people have come to do spiritual work with us at “Grannies.” We plan to continue to do this work to help anyone who seeks recovery and spiritual growth.  Many of the people who visit Grannies will tell you that there is nothing like what we do there.
