Building a School Library in Tanzania
Donación protegida
Hi there,
Firstly thank you for taking the time out of your day to read our fundraiser. We have a BIG mission on our hearts and we need your help.
In September last year Mandy had an amazing opportunity to travel to Tanzania Africa and volunteer with a non for-profit organisation called E.P.I.C (stands for Everyday People Initiating Change) . Mandy was a part of E.P.I.C.'s Fellowship Program which is a leadership training and on the ground experience in global aid and development. Her specific project involved drilling a clean water well in a community village and delivering a leadership Program to the school of children from that village.
“Volunteering with EPIC was one of the richest experiences I've ever had and my experience in Africa has forever changed how I view the world we live in” - Mandy
On our trip last year we took a visit to a community village called Lupa Lama. A village where EPIC has been able to drill for clean water thanks to many people like myself and you who are passionate about creating change. This village is a very special place and that is why we feel called to help them.
So that brings us to our MISSION.
The village of Lupa Lama has a dream to build a library in their school. There is a room in the school that is used for storage as a well a room for the children to sleep overnight in as their walk from home to school can take hours. The space has various structural damages and is run down needing a lot of work.
We would like to take this opportunity to share that the children and community of Lupa Lama do not have the same educational opportunities in school that you did or currently have. For a moment think about all the books, libraries, video content and the internet that you have available to you to further your education, grow and expand your mind. WE want these opportunities for the children of Lupa Lama and I know that with your help we can make it happen.
Building a Library will not only provide a space to encourage the reading culture in school but can also be a place where the community as a whole can come together to read, learn and educate themselves on the world they live in.
Myself, Sarah, Aliese and Nicole have come together to fund raise the funds to travel back to Tanzania this year on the 29th of September and build the library with Lupa Lama village. The money we raise will cover our fellowship program fee with EPIC which covers transport, food and our accommodation with a local family etc and the remainder of the money will go towards rehabilitating the library. We hope to fund raise above and beyond our fellowship fee to provide Lupa Lama with as much opportunity for educational growth and expansion in their school and community.
The cost to rebuild the internal and external structure of the room, including cost of materials, labor and advice from a technician is 20,000 AUD. We know this is a large amount of money but we wholeheartedly believe that with any small donation and support in sharing this fundraiser with your family and friends we can reach this amount together.
From the bottom of our hearts we want you to know that whether you donate $1 or even share this fundraiser YOU are apart of this journey to building a school library and you get to circulate your money towards creating a conscious impact in the world we live in.
We thank you for supporting this mission and creating opportunities for Lupa Lama and the generations to come.
With Love,
Mandy, Sarah, Aliese and Nicole
