Hi, my name is Justin Boudreau. I am a passionate woodworker, striving to build quality wood products with an emphasis on beauty. I run a small woodworking business on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. I've been building custom furniture and other wood products using local materials for almost a decade now, and have recently decided to focus on the construction of barrel-style hot tubs and saunas. Using local materials, I'd like to add my own creative touches to each construction and incorporate the work of a local blacksmith for the hardware and woodfired models -
I have already retooled the shop with a dedicated shaper table (industrial router), planer and table saw to streamline production as much as possible. Since I'd like to continue using local materials for these products, an inventory of adequately dried lumber will be necessary- This is why I am looking to GoFundMe for some help. I will immediately need to stock significant quantities to allow the wood to dry, keep the costs down for the customer and keep up with demand. I have sourced Eastern cedar and tamarack/hackmatack, both rot-resistant woods that are the most appropriate of the locally available woods for this application.
My thinking here is that contributions would be counted as a deposit on a sauna or hot tub, and would also put you at the front of the line when production begins in a few months. If you're not interested in either of these products but would like to make a donation, I would reward your generosity through discounts on other custom wood products in the future.
