أنا لله وأنا إليه راجعون
We belong to Allah, and to Him, we shall return.
Sadly, my grandmother, Zahra Jama Deria passed away at 80 years of age this week.
A wife, mother, grandmother and pillar of the Somali community. Zahra arrived in the UK in the 1950's from Hargeisa, Somaliland, with her husband Omar Musa, a British Merchant Navy Seamen, and their first child. They settled in East London as one of the first Somali families in the city.
Since her arrival, my grandmother's home was open to the community - always giving selflessly and unconditionally to all she met. May Allah (swt) envelope her in his mercy and grant her Jannatul Firdaws.
Please donate to our well building project - this will be dedicated as a form of sadaqah jariyah on her behalf.
