Building Tortoise Houses
Donation protected
My name is Ian Humphrey, a third generation Scottsdale resident, I am a student at Saguaro High School and an employee of the Scottsdale Parks and Recreation. My scouting adventures started when I was 8 in cub scouts as a bear rank. Throughout my scouting journey I have done many hours of community service such as raising food for the Vista Del Camino Food Bank every year. In scouts I have made achievements such as becoming a member of the Order of the Arrow and earning the do a good turn daily pendant for saving a fellow scout. As of now I am a life scout striving to become an eagle scout and starting the final requirement for such achievement which is my eagle project. When choosing an eagle project, I wanted to benefit wildlife and fulfill a need. I chose the Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary to provide them with houses and renovating habitats for their Desert Tortoises. These Desert Tortoises need homes due to owners not being able to take care of the tortoises and Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary helps to give those reptiles a home.
I am asking you, friends and neighbors to help me in raising funds to purchase the materials needed to build at least 4 of these habitats. Any funds left over will be donated to the Phoenix Herpetological Center for the continued care and maintenance of their wildlife.
