Building the Ngagur Schen Phen Ling Monastery.

To Our Respected Friends and Supporters,

Warm Greetings!

We hope this message finds you in peace and good health.

On behalf of the Khenpo Gyaljay Foundation, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to you for your continuous kindness, encouragement, and prayers. Today, we wish to share with you the sacred work we have undertaken — the establishment of the Ngagur Scheb Phen Ling Monastery and Buddhist Study & Research Centre in Solukhumbu, Nepal.

This monastery is envisioned as a sanctuary of wisdom and compassion — a home for more than 300 young monks, an educational hub offering studies up to a Master’s degree in Buddhist Philosophy, and a retreat centre for Dharma practitioners from around the world.

Building such a centre in the remote Himalayan region has been no easy task. With dedication, perseverance, and the blessings of the Three Jewels, our team has been tirelessly working on the ground to bring this vision into reality. The challenges of weather, terrain, and resources have been immense, but through determination and collective effort, we have laid the foundations of this sacred home.
We now humbly invite you to join us in this noble journey. Your generous support will not only help us complete the physical construction but will also plant seeds of Dharma that will flourish for generations to come.

In addition, we are currently undertaking a fundraising effort through a West Highland Way Walk charity initiative on GoFundMe. This event represents our commitment and hard work, as well as our determination to raise the necessary resources to ensure this monastery can be completed and flourish. The charity walk, spanning 96 miles (154 kilometres), is scheduled to commence on September 12 and is anticipated to be completed over the course of four days.

To support this, Shanker Gurung, Surya Kumar Limbu, and Jivan Gurung, three buddies from Corby, Northamptonshire, are organising a fundraising effort through a West Highland Way Walk charity event on GoFundMe.

Shanker Gurung: Born in western Nepal, Daraun, Syangja, is a Class A lorry driver at Wincanton in Northampton, with nearly 20 years of experience. This is his first WHW hike and charity event with his brothers from Nepal, all for a good cause.

Surya Kumar Limbu: Born in Tuker Line Gurkha Army Camp, Brunie, Surya is of Nepali blood. He works remotely for Fibrelite, a global Company, performing all tasks from home with minimal walking. However, he is no stranger to WHW, having completed it in seven days (24th to 31st May, 2025). Now, Surya aims to complete WHW in four days while raising awareness about the project to support better education for Himalayan children and those wishing to study Buddhism further.

Jivan Gurung: The group's third member from Ilam, Eastern Nepal. He works in a control room for OCS Security "to make people and places the best they can be." Walking is in his blood—born and bred in hilly terrain, he is always ready when it comes to hiking. Jivan also completed the WHW in 7 days with his family; his wife, 8 year-old son, and 11-year-old daughter. While doing what he loves, the motto associated with the worthy cause made him unstoppable in joining this charity hike.

This event exemplifies our dedication to increasing awareness of this project and our resolve to secure the requisite resources to support this monastery until its culmination.

Your contribution is not only a gift, but a timeless offering that will serve humanity and the Dharma. Therefore, we request you to kindly read it and extend your support in whatever way is possible — through donations, sharing our mission, or keeping us in your prayers.

With folded hands,

In Dharma.
