Death is inevitable, but how we experience it doesn’t have to be cold, rushed, or clinical. Inspired by the loss of her father and the example he set around dying with honesty and intention, Kayla Grieve founded Irish Goodbye - a Death Doula and Legacy company reimagining how we prepare for, experience, and remember death. Through her work, Kayla creates practical and meaningful tools that help people feel connected, prepared, and supported, inviting humor, beauty, and humanity back into conversations about death, grief, and remembrance.
Now, Kayla is building the Irish Goodbye Cottage: a 1,200 sq. ft. purpose-built space overlooking open pasture, designed for dying well, legacy creation, and gentle goodbyes. The land is already secured, and with your support, this vision can become a reality. The cottage will offer an all-inclusive, luxury end-of-life experience, providing daily, hands-on care from Kayla herself. Guests will receive compassionate support throughout stays of 2–8 weeks, with tailored meals, bodywork, sound bathing, and equine therapy to nourish mind, body, and soul. Loved ones can stay nearby, creating space for togetherness, rest, and presence. Here, guests are gently supported in creating their legacy—letters, videos, photos, and digital legacy websites—along with thoughtful plans and final wishes.
The Irish Goodbye Cottage is a place where life is honored, death is held with care, and goodbyes are made with intention. Your support will help build this unique space, allowing more people to experience comfort, connection, and dignity at the end of life. Please join us in making this vision a reality.
