Hello! My name is Nathan, I am a 26 year old transgender man hoping some kind hearts will help me fund gender affirming top surgery.
Lets rewind a little bit so I can share some of my journey with you. I grew up a tom boy, then gave feminine clothes a try in my high school/college age but they always felt wrong on me. Luckily, I joined an Americorps program in 2015 in a new city and that allowed me to really discover who I wanted to be. Since then I have learned so much about myself. I came out as a transgender man to my partner, family, friends and co workers in August 2018. That is when I started Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). The self love and confidence I have slowly felt grow within myself is surreal. Testosterone has allowed my mind and body to become closer aligned than I knew was possible. I am loving the face I see in the mirror everyday. Please help me love the body in the mirror just as much.
This has been a difficult thing for me to do. Asking for financial help is daunting, especially when it's something so personal like a gender affirming surgery. But something inside me is pushing me out of my comfort zone to do this. Stepping outside my comfort zone has led me in the right path so far.
I consider myself a very hard worker. However, financial stability has never been something familiar to me. I grew up in a single parent household with 2 sisters. I did two Americorps terms directly after college. (Americorps is a full time volunteer position for 12 months, making $1,000 a month) Which then led me to my current job in construction with Habitat for Humanity St. Louis. With this job, I have been fortunate to have love and support throughout my transition. With this job, I also have health insurance that helps cover cost of this procedure. The funds raised from this page will go to my out of pocket max which is the asking amount of $5,500. I know that is a lot of money to ask for. And those of you who know me know I work as much as I can and barely stay above water. So I am asking whatever you can spare will help and means so much to me. And if donating isn't for you, please be an ally. Stand up for trans rights as they are human rights! I am sending good energy out into the universe, hoping it will return.
