Let's Build Mburara School

Donation protected
Mburara International School was the realisation of the long-held dream of Enid Kanyangyeyo, affectionately known by all as Mrs. K, a Ugandan teacher.  After decades as a refugee living in Kenya, Lesotho and Canada, she returned to her home to finally start her school in 2001.

MIS is a not-for-profit primary school in Mbarara, Western Uganda, providing an enriched curriculum to boys and girls aged 3-13, with over 30% of children receiving subsidised or free education. Mburara has become a shining light in its hometown attracting students from across the country and its borders. The school is well-known for its excellent academic performance, its creative and inspired extra-curricular activities and the students’ self-assured disposition.

In 2014, Mrs K tragically and suddenly passed away, leaving plans for building a new and permanent home for the school in their early stages.  After a slow start, the building process is now underway but needs a little help from friends and supporters to move in next year and to acquire new books and equipment as it grows to accommodate more children.  It has raised a quarter of the building budget in loans and the generous support of the Rotary Club of London, Ontario. It now needs $50,000 to complete the building, playgrounds, wiring, water supply and new equipment before the big move in 2018.

Every little helps! Thank you.
