Hello, dear friends worldwide,
My name is Reem. I'm a teacher from Gaza and a mother of two beautiful kids,Mariam and Tala. I'm reaching out to you after facing very dire conditions due to the unfolding war in Gaza.
We were forced to leave our house from the very first day of the war. Initially instructed to move to a safe zone in the south, we soon discovered that nowhere was truly safe. We had to relocate four times, with the last move landing us in a tent in Rafah. We lacked all necessities of life: water, electricity, food, and even clothes. The few items available were unaffordable due to skyrocketing prices. My children, Mariam and Tala, would ask for simple pleasures like chocolate or candy, which I was unable to provide. We used to have a peaceful life in our home.In the war-torn streets,my children endure unimaginable hardships, deprived of the most basic necessities for survival. They wander amidst rubble that was once their homes, haunted by the echoes of explosions and the constant fear of violence. Food and clean water are scarce commodities, luxuries they can only dream of. Their innocent laughter has been replaced by silent tears, their playgrounds now littered with remnants of war. Yet, amid the despair, these resilient souls cling to hope, their young hearts yearning for a glimpse of peace and a chance at a brighter tomorrow amidst the devastation that surrounds them.

My heart aches to recount the harrowing ordeal my husband has endured. As an accountant at Al Ahli hospital, he was unjustly detained by the IDF, stripped of his rights, and subjected to relentless physical and psychological torture. They demanded answers he did not possess, inflicting unimaginable pain and suffering. I can only imagine the agony etched on his face, the bruises and wounds that bear witness to the brutality inflicted upon him. He is now in a dire medical condition, in urgent need of the specialized care and compassion that have been denied to him. His spirit remains strong, but his body is broken, a testament to the cruelty and injustice he has endured unjustly.

My children's world has been shattered by the unjust detention of their father. They ask questions that I struggle to answer, their innocent faces clouded with confusion and fear. Each day is filled with longing and uncertainty as they wonder when they will see him again, unable to comprehend why he was taken from us. They cling to memories of his laughter, his stories, and his comforting presence, now replaced by an empty space that echoes with their unanswered questions. Despite their young age, they carry a weight beyond their years, their resilience tested by the absence of their beloved father.

Let me tell you about my kids. Mariam, my eldest daughter, is kind and smart, loved by everyone who meets her. She has a radiant smile and a warm heart. She was supposed to complete her first year of school. She went school for one month only, but the war intervened. Her school was bombed, and some of her friends were killed. Even when we were forcibly ordered to leave our house, Mariam insisted on taking her school bag, books, pens, and stationery. "I want to study until I can return to school," she said. It's been nine months since we left our home and haven't been allowed to return.
My heart breaks for my 7-year-old daughter, whose bright spirit and eager curiosity have been overshadowed by the devastation of war. She had just begun to blossom in her education, excitedly learning new things and making friends at school. But now, the once vibrant halls are silent, replaced by the echoes of gunfire and the harsh reality of displacement. Her books and pencils lie abandoned, and the joy of learning has been replaced by the struggle for survival. I see the longing in her eyes when she sees other children with their school bags, and it breaks my heart knowing that her education has been cruelly stolen from her.
Tala, our innocent young daughter, should be starting KG1 in two months. She wants to play and learn, just like any other child beginning their journey into education. She wants a school bag, crayons, stationery, and a lunchbox. My 4-year-old daughter, once filled with boundless energy and laughter, now navigates a world robbed of its innocence by the ravages of war. Her playful dreams of running freely in open spaces have been replaced by the stark reality of hiding from danger and seeking safety in the shadows. The echoes of explosions haunt her fleeting moments of sleep, stealing away the carefree moments of childhood that should be her birthright. Instead of toys and games, she clings to me, seeking comfort and reassurance amidst the chaos that surrounds us. It pains me deeply to see her light dimmed by circumstances beyond her understanding.

As a mother, I am deeply moved to witness the profound impact of war on my children's lives. My heart aches for my daughters, who has lost their education, and who have been deprived of the carefree joys of childhood. They deserve a chance to rebuild their lives, to heal from the traumas they have endured, and to reclaim the innocence that was stolen from them. I appeal to your generosity and compassion to help us in this journey of rebuilding. Your donation can provide them with the support they need—education, mental health services, and opportunities to play and grow in safety. Together, we can offer them a brighter future, where hope replaces despair, and where their dreams can flourish once more. Your kindness can make a world of difference in restoring their childhood and giving them the chance to thrive despite the challenges they face.
Moreover,my husband urgently needs medical support, especially now that hospitals have ceased functioning due to the ongoing war. The physical and psychological torture he endured has left him in a critical condition, and without immediate intervention, his health continues to deteriorate. Your donations will provide vital funds to access medical care and treatments that are currently unavailable amidst the chaos of war. Your generosity will be instrumental in ensuring he receives the urgent medical attention he desperately needs, offering him a chance to recover and rebuild his strength in the face of immense adversity.
