Future City is a hands-on cross-curricular educational program that brings STEM to life.
The Future City 8th grade Team at Southwest Middle School in Lawrence, Kansas, has earned a spot in the national competition taking place February 14th-18th in Washington, D.C.! We are raising money to send the team of 10 students to the competition so they can compete against schools from all over the world!
The Team Rio project for Future Cities was tasked with designing a city that eliminates food waste from farm to table and keeps its citizens healthy and safe . The Rio team won first place at the regional competition in Topeka on January 17th, which qualified them to go to the national competition in Washington, D.C. The students, teachers and engineering mentors have worked for months preparing and building models, practicing presentations, and researching and developing ideas for competition. All of that work paid off with a first place win!
We have very little time to get the funds together for the team to go!
Donations and fundraising will help offset flight costs and hotel accommodations for the trip.
You can make donations through GOFUNDME and all proceeds go directly to the team. Sponsorships are available at the Gold and Silver levels. Gold sponsorships are $500 and will include your logo on the back of the team shirts. Silver sponsorships are $250 and include your name listed on the back of the team shirts. If you are interested in your logo on the t-shirt, the logo must be submitted to us via email.
For questions and concerns, please email through GOFUNDME to reach the administrator. This fundraiser has been created by the treasurer for the non-profit Silver and Blue Future Cities, Tracy Reynolds.
Thank you so much for your donation and supporting the bright minds of the future!
