Building The Most Eco-Friendly Supermarket In The UK - Papi Organic!


What is Papi Organic?

Papi Organic LTD, or Papi's Organic Supermarket, is a business idea between two individuals who are very concerned about the environment and the level of waste produced each year in the UK (14 million tonnes sent to landfill.) Papi Organic hopes to set the standard for larger supermarkets in the UK and further afield with our Fairtrade, organic, locally produced and most importantly eco-friendly and zero waste products.

We aim to be a pillar in every community we enter, donating to local causes and providing real jobs that people can fall on in these tough times. Our first target is the city of Chester, with a growing population and plastic-free certified status, this represents the perfect place in the UK to start Papi Organic, but hopefully, it won't be long before we reach across the whole country.

We want to take away the plastic bags and products that won't degrade in your lifetime, away from the supermarket experience and replace them with superior products. You might think this sounds expensive, but our goal is to more or less make the price difference negligible between Papi Organic and any other major supermarket so that going green is accessible to all.

Who is behind Papi Organic?

Papi Organic is currently a two-man operation with Wayne being our CEO and me (James), the CMO and CTO. We both come from completely different backgrounds with Wayne being a registered nurse and myself just graduating from university with an MSc in environmental studies. However, we came together because we both feel very strongly about the environment and the current issues we face as a planet. Who will benefit?

The community - We first plan to open in Chester but we do have expansion in mind. Every community we become a part of we pledge to give a portion of our revenues to local causes and really throw our support behind the places we move to. We shall provide well paying, meaningful employment to help people who are struggling to find work in this extremely difficult time.

The world - With the amount of waste being created and the climate crisis, the world isn't in a great place right now. If we can just do our bit and save a few tonnes of waste at a time, maybe make a ripple in the retail industry to push change forward, then that is a huge win for the plant and us all.

What will the funds will be used for?

This £5,000 will be used to further promote our business endeavour and secure funding to open up the most eco-friendly supermarket in the UK. We have plans to raise further money in the very near future and with a bit of luck, be open by Summer 2021.
