Support for Stage IV Breast Cancer Navy Sailor

Hi, my name is Jared, and I am helping fundraise for my 23-year-old sister, Brianna, who is in the United States Navy and battling stage four breast cancer that has spread to her bones, liver, and lungs. She just transferred to the University of Kansas Medical Center (KU) from the University of California San Diego (UCSD). Brianna’s oncologist is a specialist in Brianna’s specific type of breast cancer and is optimistic that with aggressive therapy Brianna can continue to live a quality life.

The expectation is that Brianna will undergo treatment for the rest of her life. She currently lives with our mother and stepfather, but we are building a wheelchair-accessible independent living space on their property. It is important for Brianna to remain close to assistance but also maintain as much independence as a 23-year-old deserves. The current plan is to build Brianna a one-bedroom one bath 650 sq-ft independent living space on our parents' property.

Brianna spent two and a half years fighting for our country deployed in Japan, during the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time, she was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer. Upon diagnosis, she returned to the US for treatment. After multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation along with a double mastectomy in San Diego, she was allowed to return to Kansas City to be with her family.

After Brianna has sacrificed so much for her country, our family refuses to let her sacrifice what is left of her independence.
