Help Me Build a Studio They Can’t Take Away

In 2019, my life changed forever when my husband died unexpectedly.

I could have disappeared.

Instead, I found a new purpose.

I started speaking publicly about issues that many people were afraid to touch: women’s rights, fairness in sport, language, psychology, the power of persuasion, and standing up for reality even when it’s unpopular.

I never imagined where that decision would lead.

I’ve been assaulted for being a woman.

I’ve lost opportunities because female categories stopped being female.

I’ve been excluded from communities simply because I refused to say things I don’t believe.

And yet, I’ve never been more certain that this work matters.

Years ago, I was physically assaulted in a women’s bathroom by a man who believed he belonged there.

I also lost the top female bowling title to a male competitor.

As a stand-up comedian in Hawaii, I lost the Top Female Comic title to a male competitor.

Not long after, I was removed from one of Hawaii’s largest comedy Facebook groups because I refused to stay silent.

Each experience taught me the same lesson.

If people like me stop speaking, women lose far more than trophies.

We lose our spaces.

We lose our language.

We lose our ability to even say what’s happening.

So I kept going.

Today, millions of people have watched my videos.

My books have helped people learn how to navigate difficult conversations with confidence.

My interviews and commentary have reached audiences around the world.

Every day I hear from parents, athletes, teachers, healthcare professionals, and ordinary people who tell me the same thing:

“Thank you for saying what I couldn’t.”

The problem is...

I’m still creating all of this from a makeshift setup.

Every livestream depends on my internet holding together.

Every recording depends on hoping the room is quiet.

Every echo, lawn mower, barking dog, or technical issue becomes another obstacle.

I don’t want a luxury office.

I want a permanent home for this work.

My dream is to build a small 8x10 backyard studio dedicated entirely to creating content that informs, educates, entertains, and gives people the confidence to speak up.

It would include proper soundproofing, insulation, lighting, climate control, reliable internet, and a professional recording space where I can create videos, podcasts, interviews, audiobooks, online courses, and livestreams year-round.

This won’t just improve the quality of my content.

It will allow me to create far more of it.

More interviews.

More educational videos.

More books.

More livestreams.

More conversations that challenge ideas instead of people.

More resources for women, parents, athletes, and anyone trying to make sense of this rapidly changing world.
