Palden Sherab Pema Ling - Lotus Land of Glorious Wisdom
A place of spiritual rejuvenation – a sanctuary of natural beauty where outer peace and harmony foster inner healing and tranquility.
Its namesake is Ven. Khenchen Palden Sherab Rinpoche, one of the great Tibetan Buddhist masters and scholars of the 20th century, who passed in 2010. He and his brother, Ven. Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche had dreamed for years of creating a Buddhist retreat center in South Florida.
Now that dream is becoming a reality on a beautiful 10-acre former horse farm west of Jupiter. We’re working together to transform our three barns into a traditional temple, meditation sanctuary, and community dining hall. Through generous gifts of skill, labor, and funding, we’re creating a place where the human and natural environments are respectfully nurtured in a spirit of harmony and inner peace for generations to come.
"In keeping with the Buddhist tradition, everyone is welcome here." - Ven. Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche
While Pema Ling is firmly rooted in the Buddhist tradition of Tibet, everyone will be welcome to participate in individual or group retreats in this very special place.
This land was purchased in 2014 through the blessings of the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, the great lineage masters, and the generosity of many Sangha members and friends of the Padmasambhava Buddhist Center. We spent 4 years in preparation and began construction in late 2018. In the spring of 2019, we are working to convert the central barn into a temple and make improvements to the property to accommodate its new use.
The land will continue largely in its natural state. Hawks, herons, egrets, otters, rabbits, and other wildlife are returning to this safe place. A Buddha Garden, set in a cluster of pines and oaks, offers a spot for outdoor contemplation. When the temple is complete, the shrine will be framed by sunlight filtering through a cypress grove.
