Ramadan Appeal: Help Us Build a Mosque in Córdoba, Argentina

Asalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh, dear brothers and sisters.

I recently moved from the UK to Córdoba, a beautiful and serene province in Argentina. While the landscape is peaceful and welcoming, one essential pillar of our daily lives is missing: a local mosque.

Although Argentina is home to one of the largest Muslim communities in Latin America — estimated at 400,000–500,000 Muslims nationwide — many provinces and cities still have little to no access to a masjid. Outside of Buenos Aires, where the iconic King Fahd Islamic Cultural Center stands, access to mosques becomes extremely limited.

Our projected goal is to raise £80,000 which would cover the purchase and building costs inshallah

Here in Córdoba province, the closest mosque to many families can require a 6–7 hour round trip drive, making even Friday prayers a major challenge, let alone daily salah, Ramadan taraweeh, Islamic classes, or community gatherings.

*Why This Matters?*

For many of us who grew up in the UK, the masjid was our anchor.

It was where we:

-Prayed together as families

-Learned Qur’an after school

-Broke our fasts in Ramadan

-Built lifelong friendships

-Strengthened our identity as Muslims

Without a mosque, families can feel spiritually isolated. Our children grow up without the routine connection to congregational prayer. Reverts and new Muslims struggle to find community. Ramadan passes without the beauty of taraweeh in congregation.

The masjid is not just a building — it is the heart of a Muslim community.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him a house like it in Paradise.”

(Sahih al-Bukhari & Sahih Muslim)

What greater investment can we make — especially in Ramadan, the month in which rewards are multiplied?

Every prayer made.

Every sajdah performed.

Every child who memorizes Qur’an.

Every Ramadan iftar hosted.

Every revert supported.

You will share in the reward — for as long as the mosque stands.

This is Sadaqah Jariyah — continuous charity that benefits you even after you return to Allah.

*Our Vision: A Sustainable Masjid*

By the permission of Allah, I have been working on a personal project to establish a mosque here in Córdoba with a long-term sustainable model.

The plan is:

1.Purchase a plot of land

2.Construct a mosque (musalla + community space)

3.Build a fully functioning retail shop on-site

4.Use the shop’s profits to sustainably fund:

-Utilities

-Maintenance

-Educational programs

-Community services

This ensures the mosque does not rely solely on constant fundraising, but becomes a self-sustaining center of worship and community life.

This Ramadan — Be Part of Something Historic

In a province where Muslims can drive hours just to pray Jumu’ah, you have the opportunity to help establish:

-A house of Allah

-A center of Islamic learning

-A spiritual home for families

-A legacy that continues beyond your lifetime
