One of the most humble families I have ever met - the Rosario Ortiz family. I have been doing missions long enough to know that home is in the heart and these people that live here are proof that the condition of the house does not make it a home. Living in a home that is just not safe is unimaginable to us here in the United States, however this is the reality of the Rosario Ortiz family in the Dominican Republic. No one should have to live like this and God did not intend for us to worry how it might be fixed. The ceiling is collapsing due to not having the proper beams to support the roof. This home is in need of lumber to replace the old  wood on the beams supporting the tin roof. On a recent trip to the Dominican Republic, we found that the home has deteriorating wood infested with termites, posing an additional health risk   The home has walls with significant light that enters through it, which seems to be common in the area. Rain and water enter the home for not having sufficient coverage on the wall, Insects are a problem and they need to use mosquito nets when they sleep.
