Building a Home For Dave

Two weeks ago, my best friend Dave was diagnosed with stage-4 esophagus cancer and received a terminal prognosis of less than one year.

Here are some things you should know about Dave:

• He is the only person who has given me the shirt off his back, literally.

• I once had to pry paperwork from his hands in the parking lot of an emergency vet clinic to keep him from consenting to a $7k treatment for a cat he found in a dumpster.

• He could make friends with a garbage mattress.

• He loves me for exactly who I am, and treats me like I am already the person that I want to be. He is my role model.

Dave is currently homeless. Though he has support in his housing journey, there will be significant costs associated with furnishing a home to suit his needs as he moves through his end of life process.

I have promised him that the rest of his life will be spent in safety and in comfort - and I am calling on you now to help me fulfill that promise.
