Building a dog shelter in bulgaria
Donation protected
We bought a property!
To build a official and fully licenced shelter.
Rescue/Rehome
We are in the very lucky position that we have more adoption requests than dogs to rehome. This comes to the fact that Neil and i are living on private propertys which makes us limited to the number of dogs we can rescue and rehome ( around 25 at the moment ) with the builing of this new shelter we will have a capacity to hold around 50 dogs. Which basicly means that we can help more strays in need.
Castration programe
Right now our free neutering programe is gaining momentum and the locals let us neuter a high number of dogs. As well as with the rehoming, we are restricted to the amoyunt of dogs we can neuter due our time spend driving from a. to b., bringing and returning dogs from the vet who perfoms the surgery. With the clinic we build in the shelter we will have a vet performing every second day in the clinic and we are able to keep the dogs over night which makes it way more efficient and which will drastely increase the number of dogs we are able to neuter.

The daily work on the street
To be able to get the licences to work “official” and without any kind of problems on the street with strays you need to have a licences in bulgaria ( yes we have work several years without a licencens, but from time to time this can create problems ) If you have been following our work you will know that we are trying our best to but this in place for a long time. For us it is really important to be completly legal to expand the ngo and help more dogs in the future ) To get this licences we would have to work as a employee in a state shelter ( which is not a option for us ). So we build our own shelter .
Volunteers
Since I started everydaystray we get regular requests from people to work with us as a volunteer. But neil and i are living, lets say “not in middle european standards” so we are not able to accomontaed volunteers. Which is a big loss to us because every helping hand would be amazing. We are planing to build two volunteer houses in our new property which will hold up to four volunteers. I dont think I need to say anymore.

The property
Its located around 15mins south of sevlievo. The location is a perfect base for our free neutering programe. Its a remote property with 2000qm of land and a building in the center. This building comprises of 4 houses. Which will be used house volunteers, a clinic and an office. Behind the house we will build a kennel section to hold the dogs over night but during the day the dogs will be free to roam on the property.

The renovation
The property is in need of total renovation which includes cleaning the land of bushes, grass and trees, to the total renovation of the house ( including building a new roof ) and the complete new build of the kennel section. All of this work will be done by us to keep the cost as low as possible. Neil and myself have a lot of experience in the building industry and will put this to good use. (Only the windows will be fitted by a company.)

Why not build a shelter on one of our current properties
To be able to work in the district of sevlievo we need to have a shelter in sevlievo. My property is in the district of Dryanovo so its not possible.
Neils property is situated in the district of sevlievo but the property is in the centre of the village. This is illegal due to the bulgarian law, which says you are not allowed to have neighbours near a shelter.
--------
I know its probably the worst time to ask for donations, but without your continuous support none of this would be possible, and we would not be in the position we are today.
Once again a big thank you to everybody who is able to make a donation to this cause
With the ultimate goal being to help as many dogs as possible.
