Forever Home: Help Build A Habitat for Gibbs
Donation protected
Animal Ark Wildlife Sanctuary serves as a loving and forever home for more than a dozen different animal species. Our mission is to provide animals in need caring permanent homes, in turn giving the community an opportunity to foster a love for wildlife, right in their own backyard.
Now, we need your help to provide a new, expanded and engaging home for one of our residents, Gibbs the bear. Gibbs is a male black bear, full of wit and heart, and a favorite amongst staff and visitors alike. His story reminds us of our impact on the natural world around us...

On July 20, 2015 this orphaned bear was delivered to Animal Ark by the Nevada Department of Wildlife. As with all wild bear cubs that arrive here he was intended for release back into his natural habitat. We learned upon his arrival and more so later from a park visitor, that he was staying near some vacation cabins and was being hand fed. The animal keepers soon noticed his lack of fear when in proximity to humans. Unfortunately, he could not overcome his early interactions with people, making him unfit for release. His success for survival in the wild would be slim. Therefore, Gibbs became a permanent resident of Animal Ark.
Ground has been broken for the expansive 5400+ square foot enclosure, to be completed with a pool, water feature, platform and swinging ball toy, all creating a space for Gibbs to thrive. Located in our Fox Circle, a viewing cabana will give the public the wonderful opportunity to connect with this amazing bear.

Your donation will go directly into the needed funds for completing this project. This would include fencing, labor, and materials dedicated solely to this project.
Your donation is deeply appreciated.
