Why We’re Raising Funds

Wildwood Sanctuary is being created for the dogs who are too often left behind.

Across Canada, shelters and foster systems are overwhelmed, not because people don’t care, but because many dogs need more time, space, and specialized support than the current system can provide. Dogs labeled “aggressive,” “too complicated,” or “unadoptable” are frequently the first to be euthanized when resources run out.

We believe dogs deserve more than a deadline.

Wildwood Sanctuary is an extension of Wildwood K9 ’s work in trauma-informed animal care and behavior. Our vision is to build a true sanctuary — not a temporary shelter — where dogs can live safely, heal at their own pace, and receive individualized care and rehabilitation. For some dogs, finding a forever home can realistically take one to three years, especially for misunderstood or stigmatized breeds. The lack of long-term options is one of the main reasons shelters are maxed out and lives are lost.

What This Fundraiser Will Build (Phase One)

This fundraiser supports Phase One of Wildwood Sanctuary: making our greenhouse operational so it can serve as the foundation of the sanctuary ecosystem.

We have already sourced a 4,000–5,000 sq ft greenhouse shell for $15,000. Your support helps us turn that structure into a safe, heated, functional space that supports year-round care, enrichment, food growing, and natural medicine cultivation for the dogs.
