Hi! I’m Rae, and this fundraiser is for building my dream home on wheels.
The Resonance Rig (“Rez” for short) is a 1993 Ford F350 (7.3L 4x4 Diesel with 25K miles for all my car nerds out there) retired Air Force ambulance that I’m converting into a one of a kind, mobile sanctuary.
Why “Resonance”?
In physics, resonance is when the frequency of an external vibration matches an object’s natural frequency, amplifying it. That’s what I want, for this vehicle, and for myself. To live in tune with the land, with the people I meet, and with whatever rhythm life brings.
The TLDR version of this fundraiser:
I'm creating a grounding, mobile space that supports creativity, story, reflection, and healing in a community sense. I’ve lived pretty independently for a long time, but I want this build to be a community effort, where the literal bones of my home are supported by the people I love. If you feel inspired to donate, please consider it a deposit toward a future adventure with Rez :) <3 And if you feel inspired to share this, that is even more appreciated!!
For those of you who read the backs of shampoo bottles:
This vehicle is going to be a one of a kind "what the heck is that" head-turner. At first, that freaked me out, because that’s a lot of attention when your vehicle is also your full time home. But the attention means that I will be meeting a lot of new people on my journeys, and I've realized... that's exactly where I need and want to be right now. I’ve spent a lot of my life in the background, wanting to create ripples on this earth but being too scared to do so. This next chapter is about showing up. My vision for this rig is to be a sanctuary for anyone who steps inside. In a world that’s felt really disconnected lately, I want to bring bits of hope, joy, and presence to the places we visit. I also want to inspire people to live the life that they truly want to live - no matter what that looks like, and no matter what challenges arise along the way.
So yes, this rig is my home, but it’s also my business and creative space. I plan to host pop-up music nights, yoga, coaching, dance sessions, and reflection circles. Wherever Rez parks, community can gather.
^^ This is what Rez looked like when I first purchased her!
Why I need your help:
I’ve been funding full-time van life on my own for the past 3 years. And while it’s been beautiful, it’s also been brutal. People often think van life is a great way to save money ... my bank account would disagree entirely. The van I've been reluctantly living in for 2 years is a Dodge Sprinter I bought in good faith from someone I thought of as a friend, but it turned out to be a total scam. $30K just in repairs later, the engine, transmission, alternator, and turbo are all toast. That chapter has been both humbling and exhausting. To be honest, after that and a few other mis-steps, there’s still a part of me that feels unworthy asking for help, especially with so many other important causes out there. But people who love me keep saying: “Rae. Let us be part of this.” So… here we are. But on the list of priorities - if you are short on funds yourself, please save any extra change for the homeless humans downtown or the puppies or buying yourself a nice massage <3
What your support would go toward:
I’m in the final stretch, but I’ve hit a financial wall. I’ve already invested in the vehicle itself, begun modifying the interior, and made sure the engine will run another 500K miles. To finish the build safely, sustainably, and beautifully, all funding will go towards:
️Insulation + interior finishing (to make it livable + weatherproof)
Solar power + electrical install
Plumbing + kitchen setup
Materials + tools for building it out
And paying the guys who are helping me build it :)
^^This is Rez now, mid project! With a beautiful mechanical revamp thanks to Devon Harley, diesel mechanic super star, a 2 foot roof raise thanks to brilliant aluminum welder Pablo at San Diego Mobile Welding, and the start of this epic conversion thanks to the extremely skilled bus connoseure Bobby Gatsos.
This is a true DIY dream, but to do it well, I could really use support. Every dollar really does help. And more than that, it means Rez is literally being built with community energy and love.
Whether you donate, share, or simply send some good energy my way, thank you so much for being part of my story and for just reading this! No matter what I am just really excited to share this update with you all. Your love, encouragement, and presence mean the world to me. I can’t wait to open the doors of Rez to you, wherever and whenever our paths cross.
If you want to follow the adventure, I'll be making a new page soon for Rez, but for now follow me at @sunraeallday on Instagram:)
With so much love,
Rae
