An independent artist makes less than a penny per stream.
At most shows, venues take 15–30% of ticket sales - and merch cuts can be just as high. For many new artists, a single night on stage barely covers gas money.
I’m Kohanna, a 22-year-old singer-songwriter chasing my dream. I’ve moved to a brand new city, Austin, TX (Live Music Capitol) where I can grow as a performer, make new music, and build a community through music.
Love is the foundation of everything I do - in music and in life. My songs are about connection and finding beauty in the messy parts of being human. When people hear my music, I want them to feel like they have a place and a world to belong in.
So far, every project and performance has been fully self-funded. This fundraiser will help me:
Record and release two full albums
Pay my band and collaborators
Book venues, cover travel, and play shows
Create videos, visuals, and merch to bring this music to life
Cover digital business needs (distribution, website, tools)
Market the project so new listeners can discover it
If you’ve ever streamed a song, come to a show, or supported an indie artist, your help will make a difference. You’re funding more than music; you’re helping build a world centered on love, connection, and community that can reach far beyond this project.
And if you’re not in a position to give financially but would still like to support, your time and skills are just as valuable. Graphic design, PR pitching, videography, photography, editing, web design, and marketing all take enormous amounts of time - often the biggest cost of being independent. If you have a skill to share, it means the world. I'd love to chat.
Thank you for believing in this dream and helping me build the foundation for the next chapter of music.
