Hi everyone,
We're Hayden and Victoria. We've been together for 9 years, and married for 1 year. 3 years ago, Victoria was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, losing her ovaries, uterus, and fallopian tubes. Because of this, the family we have always dreamed of is a little more difficult to get to.
We are ineligible to adopt to due reasons such as our age (we're both 28), length of time married, and Victoria's history of cancer.
We’ve worked really hard to save, but the costs are far more than we can manage alone. In Canada, surrogates themselves don't receive payment, however, there are many costs involved with the process which we are responsible for. These include:
• Fertility clinic procedures
• Legal fees for us and our surrogate
• Agency fees (up to $30,000)
• Surrogate reimbursements (childcare, time off work, travel, medications)
In total, surrogacy in Canada still adds up to $100,000-$150,000.
We know this is a huge number, and asking for help is not an easy thing for us to do, but creating a family is the most important thing in the world for us.
Thank you for being a part of our journey, and we hope to soon introduce you to our little one, and have them grow up knowing how big of a community was behind helping them get here.
