Changing Children’s Lives in Montrouis, Haiti

Montrouis is a coastal communal section in Haiti, located in the department of Artibonite, south of Saint-Marc. It’s a countryside community where, like most areas in Haiti, there is no electricity, no running water, no trash collection, and high rates of malnutrition and food shortages. Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere, with approximately 80% of residents living in poverty, according to the CIA World Factbook. The literacy rate in Haiti (i.e. percentage of people ages 15 and above who can both read and write) is about 61%, which is well below the rate for Latin American and Caribbean countries.

Angels Charities, Inc., a 501©3 managed from Port Charlotte, Florida conducts efforts that support underprivileged children in many areas of the world. We believe a better future in poor countries such as Haiti, is best achieved through providing children with necessary provisions and access to education.

Not all children in Haiti can afford to attend school. Approximately 90% of the 15,200 schools in Haiti are non-public and managed by communities, religious organizations or NGOs. Today, there are more than 300 unsponsored, poverty-stricken children of all ages crowded into a church in Montrouis, Haiti hoping to be educated. The name of the church is Eglise Evengelique de la Grace. The crowded environment and lack of adequate educational supplies is not ideal; however, it is a group of children who would otherwise not be given the opportunity for education.

How can you help?

Three years ago, the congregation of church Eglise Evengelique de la Grace and a religious organization began the buildout of a school for children in Montrouis who have no access to education due to lack of money or sponsorship. The unfinished school is called Ecole Classique Philanthropique de Montrouis. Construction and the dream of having a place more conducive for educating children stopped due to lack of funding. Angels Charities, Inc. invites you to join us in raising the necessary funds to complete the construction of the school Ecole Classique Philanthropique de Montrouis. The funds will be hand delivered directly to the person overseeing the project, and every construction phase will be closely supervised and monitored to ensure 100% of donations are swiftly and strategically used to benefit the impoverished children of Montrouis. It is the desire of Angels Charities, Inc. to provide funding to complete the construction of the school (which will be used to accommodate every grade level), to pay teacher salaries, and to provide necessary school supplies and uniforms at no cost to the students.

Every donor will receive a receipt for tax purposes, progress reports on the construction project, and a personalized note from one of the students. In addition, donors who contribute a minimum of $1,000 will be given the opportunity to have your family name displayed on a classroom door. Please know all donations at any level are appreciated. There is great need throughout the world, and Angels Charities, Inc. is humbled by donor generosity in support of this project.
