KSQD - Community Radio for All
Santa Cruz is getting a brand new community radio station - K-Squid, KSQD FM, 90.7. 352 donors raised $265,000 to buy the license, transmitter and antenna for 90.7 FM. Slated to open in February, 2019, KSQD will be a place where local community members of all stripes and ages can get training in broadcasting, podcasting, editing, interviewing and other fun radio skills. We got F.C.C. approval, and now we are raising funds to buy equipment, build the studios and pay our operating costs. We have recieved donations offline and here that put us just $15,000 from our goal. Check out our schedule and other information at: www.ksqd.org

In times like these, we need rapid access to trustworthy local information. Our station will broadcast news and interviews based on the journalistic ethics and standards of truthfulness, accuracy, objectivity, impartiality, fairness and public accountability. We will celebrate that colorful, exciting, beautiful, innovative and quirky place we call home. Programs will be engaging, high-quality and original, focusing on telling the stories of life here on the central coast. Think: musicians, artists, writers, dancers, scientists, intellectuals, children, youth, seniors, electeds, non-profit leaders, historians, etc. Bringing back the best of programmers we all miss from KUSP ( Ask Dr. Dawn, Geek Speak, Talk of the Bay, Celtic, Bluegrass, Blues, Folk, and World music), Democracy Now!, Thom Hartmann, Your Call, plus a slate of new shows.
