Build Jenna's Accessible Pool Oasis

Donation protected
Hi, I'm Cheryl and the lovely gal in the pictures is my little sister, Jenna!

Jenna is 38 years old. She came to live with my husband, daughter, and me when our mother sadly passed away in 2022 after losing a very short battle with extremely aggressive breast cancer.

We've done everything we can to make our home fun, accessible, personalized, and peaceful for Jenna. She enjoys lots of activities at home and with her friends, but her favorite thing in the whole world is swimming! She loves to paddle her arms, squat using the side rails, dip her hair, and most of all, relax on floaties! It's fun, relaxing, and great exercise for her heart health too!

Jenna wishes more than anything that we could get a pool and, while we do have the perfect yard for it, unfortunately, we can't just put up a temporary pool with a ladder. She is not steady enough to safely climb ladders or do stairs without sturdy hand railings.

The perfect pool for Jenna would be one that is in the ground, or above ground with steps in and out (with hand railings, of course) and has a small bench where she can sit when she isn't paddling, dipping, or floating.

Obviously, pools can be quite expensive, along with the upkeep and maintenance. We could totally handle the ongoing pool expenses on her behalf, but with our other expense increases since she came to live with us, we just cannot realistically afford the upfront cost of pool installation with fencing (required in our area) without some extra help. We usually don’t ask for help, but for our Jenna, it is worth asking!

Jenna doesn't ask for much, but I'd love nothing more than to make my little sister's dream come true by her 40th birthday! Since Jenna has Down Syndrome (Trisomy 21), I believe the additional exercise and contentment from an accessible pool at home would benefit her physical and mental health, and quality of life, greatly in the long run. If we make our wish goal and put in a pool, anything left over will be saved for her future medical treatment , dental needs, or other expenses (additional pool expense/accessibility, Harry Potter-themed pool accessories, or other Jenna-related needs).

Please only give what you are able. Every little bit helps! We thank you sincerely from our hearts for your generosity!!
